Homemade Lemon Ice Cream

1 quart (4 cups) whole milk
2 cups whipping cream
4 cups sugar (use less if you like it tart.  Taste before adding all of the sugar)
1 1/2 cups fresh squeezed lemon juice
2 tsp lemon extract

Mix together in in large bowl, stirring well to dissolve sugar.  Pour into ice cream maker and freeze according to the manufacturer's directions.

This makes 2 quarts.  You can make half the recipe if your ice cream maker only holds 1 quart
